SATYAJIT RAY

Well, there is a lot of things that is great about this person, I will humbly try to write down a few for you
He is not just film director but also a fiction writer, publisher, illustrator, calligrapher, graphic designer and film critic. And mind you, he was very good at all of these.
In films: his first film Pather Panchali won 11 international prizes. he made trilogy in 1950's which is the trend nowadays. His films progressed as the time progressed, starting from British Raj days, superstitious family holds to a modern India, his films captured all essence of life in India. In fiction: He created Feluda, a detective, and Professor Shonku, a scientist, both characters of children's fiction which are very popular in Bengali literature. His sci-fi adventures of the Professor Shonku were very much ahead of time.
In illustration: He designed the posters for almost all of his films, he did the cover for his fictional works, he even sketched for the stories himself (children's books cannot be popular without illustrations).
Satyajit Ray designed four typefaces for roman script named Ray Roman, Ray Bizarre, Daphnis, and Holiday Script, apart from numerous Bengali ones.
Ray is the second film personality after Chaplin to have been awarded honorary doctorates by Oxford University
